Most anxiety treatment focuses on managing symptoms - calming yourself down when anxiety strikes, challenging your anxious thoughts, 

and learning coping techniques. While these approaches can provide some temporary relief, they don't address why your nervous system became anxious in the first place and keeps getting anxious. Chronic anxiety isn't random. It has a specific origin, usually in early childhood, when your nervous system learned to be hypervigilant, hyperaroused and constantly scanning for threats. Something in your early experience taught your system that the world isn't safe, and that pattern has been running ever since. Until you understand and heal the root cause, you're just managing symptoms instead of resolving the problem - at the root cause - permanently.

How is this different from CBT or traditional anxiety treatment?

Traditional approaches focus on managing anxious thoughts and symptoms. My approach identifies why your nervous system became anxious in the first place and heals that root cause. It's the difference between learning to cope with anxiety and actually resolving it.

 

Do I need to have had trauma to work with you?

You don't need capital-T trauma. Most anxiety stems from childhood experiences that felt overwhelming at the time but might seem "normal" looking back - emotional unavailability, criticism, unpredictability, or simply not feeling truly seen and accepted.

 

How long does this work take?

Real healing can't be rushed, but most clients notice significant shifts within 3-6 months. Some continue longer for deeper work. This isn't about quick fixes - it's about lasting transformation.

 

I've been in therapy for years. Why would this be different?

Many therapies focus on the present or on managing symptoms. This work specifically addresses the developmental origins of your anxiety and heals your nervous system at that foundational level. That's why it creates lasting change.

 

Will I have to relive traumatic experiences?

No. We work with your nervous system and younger parts of you with gentleness and safety. You're never asked to retraumatise yourself. Healing happens through providing what you needed then, not through reliving what was painful.

 

Do you only work with anxiety?

Whilst anxiety is my speciality, this approach also addresses depression, relationship patterns, and emotional struggles that often accompany anxiety. We work with your whole system.

 

What if I'm not sure about the childhood connection?

You don't need to remember specific events or have it all figured out. Part of our work together is gently discovering how your early experiences shaped your nervous system. The connections often become clear as we work.
